Sofia's First Bites

Brooke and I have started spoon feeding Sofia a little bit at night which has really helped her sleep a bit longer at night.  She only gets up now about once a night which is good news for us.  This first video is us giving her rice cereal for the first time (taken a couple weeks ago).



She eats it like a champ now once we figured out the right consistency; thick and pasty is the key.  Otherwise she melts down pretty quickly and it's game over.

Last night we decided to give her baby food for the first time.  Her pediatrician recommended staying away from anything that might back her up (like bananas) so prunes it is!  I'll let Brooke change this next diaper...

First Family Christmas Photos

Wow, time flies and we haven't updated the blog in a long time.  Sofia is now four months old and last weekend we had our first family photo shoot.  Sofia was squirming all over and we were having a hard time to get her to sit still, smile, and look at the camera at the same time.  I'm surprised we got as many good photos as we did.  Click the video above to see a little slide show.  If you are able to do so, after clicking play choose to make the video full screen and change the video quality to 1080p (in the lower right-hand corner of the player) to have the best experience.  Enjoy!

I'm Hungry!

Sofia has been home for almost two weeks now, which is just amazing. It feels like just yesterday that we were welcoming her into the world! Other than getting bigger and continuing to amaze us with her cute animated faces, she is also apparently experiencing a major growth spurt! The day Eric went back to work was the day she decided she needed to feed every 2 hours, nights included! Needless to say, we have one tired mama at our house! The doctor said it should only last for a very short period of time, which I'm hoping is the case. I never thought I would look forward to 3 hour blocks of sleep time, but I definitely am :) Eric will put more pictures up this weekend!

1 week old today

It's hard to imagine that one week ago today, we were holding our baby girl for the first time. She seems to fallen into a fairly consistent sleep routine of waking every 3 hours or so to eat and have her diaper changed. She has also become much more alert during her wake times during the day. You can definitely begin to see a little personality coming through. We took lots of pictures this week, so we will make sure to update the blog with more photos!

First Doctor's Appointment

Sofia had her first doctor's appointment today and she passed with flying colors! Her weight is down to 7 pounds, 2 ounces which is within the normal range of weight loss. Her next appointment will be at 2 weeks with a bit more drama as she has a repeat heal stick, which I am certain she will not like! Here is a picture of Sofia and I waiting to see Dr. Mooney :)

Day 4

So Miss Sofia Jane is 4 days old and is such an incredibly cute baby that is worth every minute of the sleep deprivation :) We are quickly learning what each cry means and what her little movements are trying to tell us. Based on the lungs she has, she is sure to be a singer like her Grandma Jane! Thanks to everyone who has been sending well wishes and prayers. More pictures and updates to come!
