First Week Success!

We received an email from Sofia's teacher and it sounds like her first week was really great.  She is integrating well with her classmates and seems to really be enjoying herself.  It seems as though a personal favorite of hers is the soap both for her hands and her mouth like lipstick :)  Below is the email we received from her teacher as well as some photos of her first week.

HI Brooke-I just wanted to let you know your little Sofia is transitioning well. She is a ray of sunshine! She talks alot, points at things and names them, says "HI!" to everyone, gives hugs, and when she gets what she needs/wants will commence with "Okay!"....the other day she woke from her nap and said "hi there!"...it was so cute. She is very much exploring our class right now:)

Yesterday after nap, she walked over to the rug infront of the cubbies and said "I go potty" and then went. I told her "I see that you did, let's go to the bathroom"....which leads me to think that since she is aware of her body needing to go, states it, pretty soon she will be sitting on the potty on her own volition. Things to look for are her "tells". What this is is what does her body do, her face do right before she has to go....and then when you see this at home, let her know her body is showing you she has to go soon...and walk her to the bathroom....

Hope you all have a great day and thank you for bringing your daughter to our class/school-she is awesome!

Yay for french toast for breakfast!

I will carry this milk by myself through the store!

Preschool Adventures

Sofia entered her first week of preschool this week and so far is really enjoying playing with all the other "babies." While I think she misses seeing Papa and Grandma every day, the socialization seems to be really good for her. According to her teacher, she has been talking and playing with all the kids in the class :)

Here are a some pictures from this week including the fort that Daddy made for her!

Godfather Love!

Sofia's Godfather and our good friend Dennis came down this weekend from Seattle. We picked him up from the train station and had lunch at a great little bakery in North Portland called Tula's. We miss having him here in Portland, so it is always nice to catch up when we get the chance.

Spaghetti in the hair!!

Sofia decided to spread her spaghetti dinner in her hair tonight. This was the end result after I tried to get it out :)

Day 31: Daddy loves and trying shoes

Sofia had a fun night last night with Dad. She also put her shoes on by herself last night!

Catching up!

I've been taking photos every day, but with all of us being so sick, I haven't been good about posting them here. So here are a whole bunch for your viewing pleasure!

The Plague Strikes Again!

As hard as we tried to keep Sofia from getting sick, I picked her up this morning from Ken and Beth's house with a fever and runny nose. Based on the coughing she has been doing tonight, I think it is safe to assume that the plague has hit her too. I'm hoping it is quick and won't be as drawn out and awful as what Eric and I have been experiencing. However, looking at this picture, you would think she was just fine :)

Shopping for Polar Bears and Babies

Sofia loves pushing her shopping cart around the house that Ken and Beth gave to her. Yesterday, she was busy shopping for polar bears and babies!

Brushing my teeth!

The plague is still going around our house with a vengeance, but thankfully it has seemed to avoid Sofia. She has recently decided that she wants to brush her teeth herself, so we let her start and then we finish for her to make sure the job actually gets done :)
